What to expect

Depart from Halandri metro station and board a comfortable bus as you explore local folklore and history. See the famous ancient silver mines of the area and visit the oldest theater in the world, the Ancient Theater of Torikos.
Before arriving at Cape Sounion, enjoy a delicious coffee at a nearby cafe. Here you will have about two hours to see the magnificent temple of Poseidon. As the sun sets and the crystal waters of the Aegean are bathed in golden light, relax around the temple and enjoy the stunning sights.

Take the opportunity to photograph the charming surroundings of Sounio at this fine hour and enjoy the majestic golden light of the church. Enjoy a quiet moment at the temple and enjoy the stunning views before returning to Athens.

Meeting Point

Meet outside the Halandri Metro Station (Blue Line), which is a 20-minute ride from Athens Syntagma. Once you are at Halandri Metro Station, follow the exit “To Vrilissia” and meet your guide outside the station.

  • Students and youth of the European Union under the age of eighteen receive free admission to the archaeological monument.
  • Students studying at higher education institutions outside the EU and EU citizens over the age of 65 can get a 50% discount.
  • There is an entrance fee of £5 to the archaeological site during the winter months between 1st November and 31st March.
  • Don't forget to arrive at the meeting point ten minutes before the tour starts.
  • Wear comfortable shoes when exploring the ancient temple of Poseidon in Sounio.
