The journey begins in a tropical forest where you will meet a small monkey eating cocoa pods, and learn about the harvesting the cocoa trees. Leaving the forest, you enter an Aztec temple that reveals the serpent god Quetzalcoatl, who, according to the legend, introduced cocoa on earth.
Entering the next room, the floor creaks, the lamps stir, the windows reveal an azure sea … The scene takes place in the 16th century, on a Spanish ship, where you’ll discover cocoa’s journey to Europe.
It’s a century later that chocolate will enter the great European courts and you’ll follow this journey and meet the luxurious equipment they made to drink this very special spice called cocoa. Don’t miss the original flavors they offered at that time. Chocolate was also considered as a medication and you’ll discover all the beliefs and truths about the benefits of cocoa.
The second floor is dedicated to industrialization and all the chocolatiers that made Alsace the largest producer of chocolate in France. Then, in the virtual demonstration, meet 3 chocolatiers who will present their recipes and all the tricks they use to make their perfect chocolates.
