The oldest building in use in Dublin today, this crypt dates back to the early 12th century and is home to several interesting monuments and wonders. Check out the mummified rat and cat in the vault. A legend around the cathedral says that a cat chased a mouse into the organ pipe and both became trapped. James Joyce mentions them in Finnegans Wake and they are referred to locally as "Tom and Jerry" with typical Dublin humour.
