Overview

Come to the Vermeer Center Delft, the former building of the Guild of St. Lukas, and talk to a volunteer to learn about the museum. Get an audio guide and head down to the basement to watch a short film about Vermeer and Delft in the 17th century.
Then check out 37 painting reproductions by Vermeer. You will learn about the artist’s life and family, as well as the city in which he lived. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to Vermeer’s working method. Use the camera obscura to play with colors and perspectives and literally step into a Vermeer painting.
On the second floor of the museum, you can learn more about the love messages in Vermeer’s paintings. At the exhibition “Love messages from Vermeer” understand the meaning and symbolism of certain objects and details in the artist’s paintings. End your visit to the museum with a visit to the souvenir shop.
