Izmir/Kusadasi: Ephesus & Temple of Artemis Shore Excursion

Overview

Originally, the site was intended for theatrical performances, but was later changed to host gladiatorial contests. The beautifully restored facade of the Library of Celsus, built between 115 and 125 AD, is perhaps the most photographed of Ephesus. You can also see Odeon Temple, Trajan’s Fountain, Hadrian’s Temple, Scholastica Steam Baths, Marble Street, Agora and Temple of Domitian. After exploring Ephesus, head to the Temple of Artemis. The goddess of hunting was honored in the temple of Artemis, which is considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Once 425 feet wide and 220 feet wide, the temple is now reduced to just a plinth and a pillar. This temple was threatened by the flourishing ministry of St. Paul in this city. After the golden age of the city, it served as a cultural and artistic example of the ancient world. Your tour will end around 13:00 and you will be returned to the cruise port.
