A must-see!!! One of the highlights of my city visit! Exploring the Catacombs while still in the old mines is thrilling enough. Then the bones are exposed. But be sure to book in advance!
If you’re into the macabre, then definitely check this out. I enjoyed the excursion down into the depths of Paris – though if you hate darkness, enclosed spaces and bones it’s probably not for you. It was such an interesting experience, and there was a calm and quiet beneath the ground that really added to it.
Amazing!!!!!!To start, if you plan to visit this location, you should make reservations in advance. We didn’t and ended up standing in the cold for more than an hour. If you don’t make reservations in advance, I recommend arriving early due to the peculiar visitation hours (i.e before it actually opens). Having said that, the location is excellent. The idea that you are surrounded by millions upon millions of long-dead bones is actually rather difficult to comprehend. To say that I “enjoyed” the experience feels a little macabre, but it is undoubtedly fascinating and well worth a trip if you get the opportunity.
Was unsure whether or not to visit the catacombs because it was such a strange but interesting site. Never had a situation like this before. very much worth a trip
Must Visit!!
This was my favorite of the 11 sights we viewed over our four days in Paris. It’s an extraordinary story to witness. Avoid the circular stairs that go down (and up) since they seem to go on forever if you have difficulties with staircases. To ensure that you understand where you are and what it means, make sure to purchase tickets with the narrating device. I can’t image going down there on my own without someone guiding me.
Worth a visit!!!!
One of the highlights of my trip to the city! It's exciting enough to explore the Catacombs when you're still in the old mines. The bones then become visible. But make sure to reserve early!
Extremely cool! I was hesitant to leave. My hubby had the notion. but it's totally worth it. Also pleasant on a hot day. There are approximately 130 steps down, all of which are spiral stairs. Likewise for backup. I would suggest using the audio guide, as we did.
Skull Gallery!!!!
I spent three days in Paris last week and went to the Catacombs.
You must pre-purchase the skip the line ticket and audio guide because otherwise you will have to wait a very long time!
We arrived ten minutes early for our appointment and were admitted quite fast.
Please take note that oversized bags will not be accepted.
The catacombs themselves are incredible, albeit a little unsettling. The tour will be cut too short without the audio guide.
Beware, there are many steps!
The final store was fantastic!
As macabre as the notion may seem, it’s a very intriguing place to visit. It’s recommended to obtain the audio guide to receive amazing insider information and in-depth themes of each room and region. The visit is definitely worthwhile.
Amazing to view beneath Paris and all the skulls, which are much larger than you could think.
It is a very strange phenomenon.
