Overview

The collection is housed in the former Winter Palace of Queen Mother Emma of the Netherlands and is the only public building in The Hague that has preserved its original royal setting.
View almost all of the Dutch artist’s works, including the 7-meter-long Metamorphosis III, a huge woodcut displayed in an unconventional way that allows you to experience Escher merging time and space as an organic unity.
Escher inspires a sense of wonder and fascinates young and old. The exhibition includes famous ‘impossible’ graphics such as ‘Day and Night’, where the Dutch landscape seemingly transforms into a flock of birds, and the famous ‘Descent and Descent’, depicting rows of people constantly ascending and descending stairs. .
On the second floor of the Palace, there is an interactive exhibition “Looking as Escher Does”, where, in addition to puzzles with your eyes, you can reveal some of Escher’s secrets with your hands.
