Immerse yourself in fashion as you browse the exhibits that display important garments from the past hundred years. Famous items from world-renowned designers such as Jan Taminiau and Iris van Herpen are on display here.
Get a real sense of graphic designer, visual artist and children’s book author Dick Bruna and tour his faithfully recreated studio inside the museum. His most famous creation is Miffy (or in Dutch: nijntje).
Admire the skillful use of color and fascinating subject matter by internationally acclaimed Caravaggist painters from Utrecht, including Dirck van Baburen, Gerard van Honthorst and Hendrick ter Brugghen.
Visit the contemporary art stages inside and outside the museum, where contemporary artists and their artworks are displayed on current issues of today’s society. Entitled “Utrecht Lokaal”, Expo 10 is dedicated to showcasing exciting new talent as well as established artists from the city of Utrecht.
The design collection includes the renowned (and world’s largest) Rietveld collection. In addition to the world-famous Red and Blue Chair, you can view a diverse selection of works by this versatile designer and architect.
The Centraal Museum also has an impressive collection of modern art from the 1850s – 1950s, with works by famous artists such as Gustave Courbet, along with artists from Utrecht including surrealist Joop Moesman and magical realist Pyke Koch.
