One of the most prestigious museums in the world is the Belvedere in Vienna. The famous art collection consists of works from the modern era to the Middle Ages. The complex was commissioned in the 18th century by the ruler of Austria, Prince Eugene of Savoy, the famous Baroque architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt.
After the death of Prince Eugene, the complex was bought by Empress Maria Theresa, who turned Belvedere Belvedere into an exhibition space for the imperial collection and created one of the first public museums in the world.
Formerly the home of Prince Eugene, the Lower Belvedere is now a wonderful exhibition space.
Belvedere is one of the most beautiful parks in the world. The main garden includes three wide terraces and is located between the Lower and White Belvedere. The oldest Alpine park and botanical garden in Europe is located in Belvedere Park.
