Take a walking tour to explore the ancient history of Athens. Join archaeologists and discover the stories that bring ancient Greece to life as you explore the monuments and museums of the Acropolis.
After meeting your archaeologist-certified guide, you’ll begin your private tour. Enter from the southern slope of the Acropolis to begin a tour of some of the world’s greatest buildings.
During the tour, pay attention to the guide’s detailed description of the inner castle ruins, including excavations. See the amphitheater known as the Theater of Dionysus, considered the cradle of theater arts
Sit on a stone bench and imagine the sights and sounds of ancient theatergoers as they attended the plays of Greek writers Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides.
Pass the Odeon of Herodes Atticus; The theater is used today for the Athens Festival from May to October. Before the Parthenon, find solace in Asclepius, a healing temple dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine. Tour the temple to see how the goddess Athena built it. After exploring the traditional architectural sights, take a break and relax at the New Acropolis Museum (fee required).
One of the top five museums in the world, New Acropolis
