Full Description
We initially penetrate and cross the Ostrobothnian Sea ice 0.8 km to the Old Kemi Laitakari island after equipment delivery and safety concerns at the Snowcastle location. You will learn the fundamentals of moving on the ice and in snowy circumstances from the guide. When you visit the island, your guide will show you the true history of Kemi. Before Kemi city was created, Laitakari was inhabited and constructed. The Russian Emperor Alexander II chose to construct Kemi city following the success of the Laitakari mill. We hike back after the historical tour of Kemi's birthplace. Icetrek is a total of two to three kilometers of walking on level ground and sea ice.
