Full Description
Founded in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. Over the centuries, it has been shaped and expanded by monarchs such as Henry II, Charles II, and George IV.
Your ticket grants access to the Castle, including the spectacular State Apartments, home to some of the greatest treasures in the Royal Collection. Here you’ll find masterpieces by Holbein, Rubens, and Van Dyck, along with exceptional English and French furniture. During the winter season, visitors can also explore the lavish Semi-State Rooms, designed for George IV.
Admission includes entry to St George’s Chapel (closed to visitors on Sundays), one of England’s most impressive churches and the resting place of several monarchs, including Henry VIII and Charles I.
To fully enjoy everything Windsor Castle has to offer, plan for a visit of around 2.5 to 3 hours. The castle sits atop a steep hill and the visitor route covers a large area, so comfortable footwear is recommended.

The castle was beautiful, but it was incredibly crowded, which made it hard to enjoy. Some areas were closed for maintenance, which was disappointing. For the price, I expected a more relaxed experience.
