Full Description
Before floating in the dark amid the glowing shimmer of hundreds of glowworms, explore a magical underground world of rushing water. You start your journey to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves by taking a boat to Lake Te Anau's western borders. Before you go beneath, check out the educational exhibits at the caverns' entrance to learn more about this geological marvel. Your amiable guide will highlight the caves' main features and impart their expertise about the caves' past during the trip. The beauty of this subterranean realm is astounding. Even though the caverns are 12,000 years old, they are still relatively young by geological standards, and the river's force is still sculpting them. As a result, there is a roaring underground waterfall, whirlpools, and a winding system of limestone corridors with sculpted rock. You will be transported by small boat deep within the caverns, away from the sound of the water, to a quiet, secret grotto that is home to hundreds of glowworms, which are exclusive to New Zealand. They create a sparkling spectacle that is nothing short of spectacular in the underground darkness.
