Full Description
The Neguri district and its opulent mansions once owned by wealthy industrial executives will then appear as you progress towards the interior of the province. Discover the magnificent old castle of Butron and admire charming farms and traditional local houses. Reach the seaside village of Bakio, a popular summer holiday destination for local Basques, then continue along the stunning and wild coastal road to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This is said to be one of the most picturesque places on the Basque coast. A long stone staircase connects this remarkable islet, topped by a hermitage, with the mainland. You will then continue to Bermeo, a fishing town. Here you will stop to see its harbor. Later, you will drive to Gernika and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before returning to Bilbao, you will stop in Gernika to see the convention hall and the Basque sacred tree.
