Tea Ceremony Juan: 556, Gojo-sagaru, Tominokoji Dori, Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. Once inside the Temple you face the Main Hall. Look to the left and you will see a few steps that give access the tea room.

Full Description

Begin your tea ceremony experience by entering through the main gates of Jotoku-ji Temple. As you walk through the peaceful grounds, take time to admire the temple architecture and visit the purification fountain. You will meet your guide near the red benches, where you may relax and enjoy the atmosphere. In case of rain, you can wait under the shop’s gable or inside the Grand Tearoom.

When ready, enter the Grand Tearoom and take part in a traditional purification ritual, offering a rare and meaningful insight into Japanese culture. After removing your shoes, you’ll be seated inside where the Tea Master leads the ceremony. Learn the proper way to prepare and enjoy matcha tea, while discovering the traditions and significance behind this timeless Japanese art.
