Full Description
Discover the highlights of Nagano on this full-day guided tour led by a local English-speaking guide. Begin with a visit to Zenko-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most important and historic Buddhist temples, followed by sake tasting and lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, travel to the famous Snow Monkey Park, home to the world’s only monkeys known to bathe in natural hot springs—an unforgettable sight up close.
Meet your guide at Nagano Station at 9:35 AM. During winter (December–March), guests staying in Hakuba may choose shuttle pickups from Hakuba Tokyu Hotel (7:40 AM) or Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal (7:55 AM). Please arrive early, as departures are strictly on time.
Winter note: If the 9:35 AM Nagano Station slot is fully booked, an earlier 9:00 AM meeting time may be used—please confirm your booking details.
The tour returns to Nagano Station around 5:30 PM (or approximately 6:45 PM for winter guests joining from Hakuba).
Know Before You Go
- Please note that this is not a private tour and you cannot be picked up/dropped off in destinations other than the designated meeting points.
- This tour includes ‘sake’ tasting. You must be a minimum of 20 years of age to consume alcohol in Japan. For those underage OR guests who do not consume alcohol, non-alcoholic sakes are available.
- There will be a substantial amount of walking involved (1.6km walk to and from the park).
- Please wear suitable shoes for walking the forest trail (no heels/sandals) and a bag that is easy to carry. Although routes will be generally flat and easy to walk, the forest trail may be slippery in the winter.
- There are a few days in the year that the monkeys might not come down to the park.
- Please let us know of any food allergies and we will arrange lunch accordingly.
- Please note, there may be possible changes in the itinerary/included experiences due to local events, weather, restaurant availability, or other unforeseeable factors.
