Full Description
Depart from Santander and travel into the Liébana region of Cantabria, an area known for its mountains, forests, and rivers. Along the journey, pass through the impressive Hermida Gorge, one of the longest gorges in Spain. The first stop is the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, an important Christian pilgrimage site that houses the Lignum Crucis, believed to be the largest preserved fragment of the Cross of Jesus.
Continue toward Fuente Dé, the gateway to Picos de Europa National Park, where you’ll have approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time to enjoy the alpine surroundings. Visitors may optionally ride the cable car to an altitude of about 1,823 meters for panoramic views or explore the area at leisure. The tour then proceeds to the charming village of Potes, considered one of Spain’s most beautiful towns, where a short guided walk is followed by free time for lunch, sightseeing, or shopping before returning to Santander.
