The Barcelona-based Museu Picasso is a vital resource for learning about Pablo Picasso's early years. The permanent collection consists of 4,251 works which display the young artist's brilliance. His close, passionate connection with Barcelona, which was formed throughout his childhood and adolescence and remained until his death, is also present in the Museu Picasso, which opened in 1963. When it comes to the artist's early years, the Museum has an extensive collection of work that is nearly complete up until the Blue Period. In addition, the Museum has a large collection of prints, a representation of 1917 works, and the series Las Meninas (1957).
