Full Description
Join a certified volcanological guide on Mount Etna, starting from the Rifugio Sapienza area on the volcano’s south side. You’ll first take the cable car up to approximately 2,500 m, then continue the adventure on foot across lava flows and volcanic terrain toward about 3,000 m, stopping at volcanic features such as the Barbagallo Craters and other points created by past eruptions. Along the hike you will discover the unique moon-like landscapes, learn about Etna’s eruptive history and geological processes, and enjoy sweeping views over the Valle del Bove and northern Sicily. At the end of the hike, return the same way and descend by cable car back toward the starting point.
