Full Description
An eight-hour bus trip around the Golden Circle takes you through the best of southwest Iceland. Visit the breathtaking Geysir region and the Gullfoss Waterfall's cascades. Iningvellir National Park will show you where the tectonic plates of North America and Europe collide. Visit the Geysir geothermal area. Admire the steamy water that Strokkur's active hot spring ejects 30 meters into the air every eight minutes. Continue to the Gullfoss Waterfall (also known as the "Golden Falls"), one of Iceland's most recognizable landmarks. As the glacial River Hvt plunges into a 32-meter-deep cleft, feel the spray of the water. A few centimeters are being separated from the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates each year in Ingvellir National Park. In 2004, ingvellir, which is home to the Rock of Law, the first Viking parliament, and a magnificent rift valley, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural significance.
